Austin, TX (January 22, 2021) – A man who died during an auto-pedestrian collision last week in East Austin has finally been identified as Connor Avery Hughes, 21.
Police reports show that the accident took place at about 9:20 p.m. in the 4000 block of Airport Boulevard when Hughes attempted to cross the street and was hit by a northbound 2012 Chevrolet Cruze.
Hughes was transported to the University of Texas Dell Seton Medical Center, where he died from his injuries two days later.
The driver of the Chevrolet stayed at the scene. Speed and driver impairment are not believed to be factors in this accident.
We would like to offer our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased victim, Connor Avery Hughes, at this time.
Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Austin

As published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in one recent year around 129,000 victims in the United States needed emergency room care for treatment of pedestrian accident injuries. Moreover, 5,376 additional pedestrians eventually died from their injuries. Pedestrians are two times more likely to sustain fatal injuries in a car accident than a vehicle occupant, and those who manage to survive have a very long and expensive road to recovery ahead of them.
