3.3 Million Boppy Newborn Loungers Recalled After 8 Infant Deaths
On Sep 23, 2021, The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and The Boppy Company announced the recall of the Boppy Original Newborn Loungers, Boppy Preferred Newborn Loungers, and Pottery Barn Kids Boppy Newborn Loungers.
The recall was issued after 8 infant deaths were reported in association with the Boppy Company Newborn Lounger between December 2015 and June 2020. According to the reports, the infants suffocated after being placed on their back, side or stomach on the lounger and were found on their side or on their stomach.
Between January 2004 and September 2021, The Boppy Company sold about 3.3 million of the recalled loungers at children’s product stores and mass merchandisers nationwide and online, including Pottery Barn Kids, Target, Walmart, and online at Amazon.com.

Loungers and pillow-like products are not safe for infant sleep due to the risk of suffocation. Since we know that infants sleep so much of the time – even in products not intended for sleep – and since suffocation can happen so quickly, these Boppy lounger products are simply too risky to remain on the market.

Justice for Your child is our priority.
When shopping department store aisles for the perfect items with which to dress and care for your little one, you expect nothing short of a safe and reliable product. When that product fails to meet the standard of safety promised by its manufacturer, the consequences can be fatal.
We understand the loss of a child is a deeply devastating circumstance that cannot be remedied by an empty statement or offering. The chasm between a grieving parent and the calculated strategy of corporate damage control is far too enormous a challenge for anyone to face alone.
Negligent corporations that market dangerous products for infants and children as safe to use must be held accountable. As parents of young children, our attorneys empathize with your pain.
