This March, we’re spotlighting our women attorneys to gain their perspectives on the crucial concepts of diversity, equity, and inclusion. For us, diversity isn’t merely about numbers; it’s about embracing the unique perspectives and experiences each individual brings. Equity underscores the importance of fairness and justice, ensuring that opportunities are accessible to all. Meanwhile, inclusion speaks to creating environments where everyone feels valued and empowered to contribute.
Join us as we ask our women attorneys to expand on what diversity, equity, and inclusion mean to them personally and professionally.

“Not only embracing all of the complexities and layers that make up one’s identity but providing the same rights and opportunities regardless of those same complexities and layers. It is about treating everyone equally but being respectful of all the things that make them unique.”
Samantha Smith
“To me, equity, diversity, and inclusion means providing equal opportunities to everyone in the workplace – regardless of gender, race or other differences – based on merit and ability. It also means that everyone starts at the same starting point. No one gets to the starting line earlier or later due to race, gender, or other differences. The biases and stereotypes that have made life harder for some, based on simply on gender, skin color or other differences, need to be removed from the workplace so that those who do great work are recognized for that work.”
Rene Sigman
“To me, equity, diversity, and inclusion means….Jesus. Despite your beliefs, whatever they may be, Jesus embodied acceptance of people regardless of gender, ethnicity, background, or beliefs. He was inclusive and non-judgmental. Everyone was treated with respect and dignity. We should all strive to do the same.”
Alyssa Salinas
“To me, equity, diversity, and inclusion means accepting, respecting, supporting, and embracing people from all backgrounds as well as ensuring fair treatment for all by empowering those who have historically been discriminated against and underrepresented.”
Batami Baskin
“To me, diversity, equity, and inclusion means a commitment to fairness that capitalizes on differences and aims to empower women and others.”
