Harris County, TX (June 7, 2021) – A teenager is in critical condition in the hospital after a traffic accident that took the life of her mother and left another driver with serious injuries on Sunday, June 6. The wreck was stated to have taken place at around 2:30 p.m., according to reports.
Sources stated that the incident occurred on Ella Boulevard near FM 1960 while a 15-year-old and her mother were in a white Kia Optima headed north on Ella. A pickup truck pulling out of a subdivision came directly into the path of the Kia, and the woman swerved to avoid hitting it.
She did avoid striking the truck, but was unable to regain control of her vehicle. Reports stated that the woman crossed over the center lane and drove into oncoming traffic where she collided with a Chevrolet Equinox head on. The Equinox was being driven by a woman said to be in her 60s.
The mother who was driving the Kia lost her life at the scene of the crash. Her daughter was life flighted to Memorial Hermann Hospital and is listed as in critical condition, according to police.
Authorities continue to investigate the details of the fatal accident. No further information is available at this time.
