Harris County, TX (April 20, 2021) – An SUV and a Street Sweeper were involved in a fatal collision in Harris County on Monday, April 19. The incident was reported at around 2:22 p.m.
According to information provided by officials, the wreck happened in the 2000 block of Interstate 45 when a convoy of street sweepers was driving along the inbound right shoulder of I-45. When the convoy stopped to clear a piece of debris from the road, a 1995 Montero Sport SUV slammed into the back of one of the street sweepers.
Both vehicles caught fire following the collision. The driver of the Montero was pronounced deceased at the scene by medical professionals who responded to the scene. The driver of the involved street sweeper was able to exit his vehicle safely. He was transported to an area medical center with injuries deemed minor in nature.
