Texas Pedestrian Accidents

As reported by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, approximately 129,000 people in the United States required emergency room visits in one recent year for treatment of injuries they sustained during pedestrian-involved accidents. Additionally, another 5,376 pedestrians died as a result of their injuries. Pedestrians are almost twice as likely to die during a car crash than the occupant of a vehicle, and if they do manage to survive being struck by a car, they usually have a very long period of recovery to endure.
Accidents that cause the fatality or injury of pedestrians are a tragic, daily occurrence all across the country. Nearly 700 pedestrians were killed in 2016, accounting for more than 20% of all vehicular fatalities in Texas. This total also represents a 22% rise in the pedestrian death rate from the previous year.
Pedestrian-involved accidents generate more injured victims and more fatalities than any other type of vehicle collision. Due to the fact that pedestrians are extremely vulnerable, they commonly suffer injuries that greatly exceed those of the vehicle occupants.
