Aug 15, 2021 | Houston, TX Traffic Accidents

Houston, TX (August 15, 2021) – A fatal motorcycle accident took the life of one person in the early morning hours of August 15, Sunday. According to reports, the crash occurred on the East Freeway at around 5:45 a.m. between a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle.

Sources indicate that the motorcycle and the car collided on the East Freeway for reasons still being investigated by police. The motorcyclist, identified as Christopher Favela, lost his life due to the collision.

Reports show that Favela collided with the rear-end of the car and was ejected from his bike, causing him fatal injuries. Paramedics attended the scene shortly after the crash occurred in order to assist those involved. Favela was pronounced deceased at the site of the wreck. The driver of the car, Stephanie Franco, suffered no injuries, according to reports from officials.

Authorities in Houston continue to investigate the details of the collision. The freeway was closed for approximately 3 hours while crews worked to clear the scene. Traffic delays ensued in the area for some time, forcing local drivers to find alternative routes of travel for the time being.

We would like to offer our sincere sympathies to the family of the deceased at this time. Our thoughts are with everyone involved.

Nothing further has been reported as police continue to investigate the circumstances of the accident.

Houston Motorcycle Accidents

Based on recent statistics gathered by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration concerning traffic accidents in Houston, when it comes to motorcycle accidents, in particular, motorcyclists are five times more likely to suffer critical injuries than the occupants of the other vehicle involved in the crash. Even the most careful and mindful motorcyclists are at a much higher risk of sustaining severe injuries during an accident as opposed to someone inside of a truck or car.

Given that motorcyclists are totally unprotected while riding their bikes in the event of an accident, for example, from other vehicles and the asphalt, the injuries they endure are often severe or even fatal. This is one of the most important reasons for motorcyclists to wear helmets at all times. Motorcycle accidents in Houston occur more often than motorcycle accidents in nearly any other state in the nation.
