Houston, TX – East Freeway Crash Injures HPD Deputy

Houston, TX (January 2, 2020) – A Houston Police Department deputy was taken to the hospital this morning after he was struck by a car on the East Freeway. 

The crash happened just before 4:00 a.m. near Lockwood when police officers were blocking two westbound lanes of traffic in an effort to fill in a pothole. During this time, a driver collided with the side of one of their police cruisers, injuring one of the officers. 

The patrol car was struck from behind and the officer suffered serious injuries in the accident. He was promptly transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. He has not been identified to the public at this time. 

The driver, who was only identified as female, sustained minor injuries in the crash and was also transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Her name has not been released. 

No further information is available concerning this injury accident in Houston. We would like to offer our thoughts to everyone involved.
