Car Accidents in Houston
Driving in Houston can certainly be a dangerous activity. According to recent statistics concerning the rate of traffic accidents that happen in the Lone Star state, a car accident in Texas occurs approximately once every 71 seconds. Someone loses their life once every two and a half hours, and someone is seriously injured once every two minutes. According to information provided by the Texas Department of Transportation, in 2019, Texas saw almost 20,000 serious injury crashes (19,506), accompanied by 30,992 victims who suffered from severe injuries. Additionally, there were a total of 3,722 fatalities due to motor vehicle accidents that same year in Texas. The state is among the top three most dangerous states in the nation for motorists– along with California and Florida.
Under Texas law, it is imperative that you understand your rights and responsibilities after a serious auto accident. Usually, you will receive a call from an insurance adjuster inquiring about the accident and your resulting injuries, and whether you would feel comfortable making a statement concerning the issue. You should never speak to anyone about your crash until you speak to a skilled attorney first, especially if there were injuries involved. A Texas personal injury lawyer will help you figure out how to proceed, as it is their job to know the ins and outs of the law.
