Sustaining serious injuries in an accident of any kind can bring serious pain and suffering into your life, not to mention cost you thousands of dollars while you may be forced out of work for an extended time period due to your injuries and resulting recovery. Thousands of car accidents happen in the state of Texas each and every year, leaving hundreds of thousands of people with injuries. You may be wondering where to turn for help if you have sustained injuries in an auto accident caused by negligence.

Houston car accidents happen daily, multiple times per day. According to information from the Texas Department of Transportation, an accident occurs once every 71 seconds in the Lone Star State. In 2019, there were more than 450,000 car crashes in Texas. Over 250,000 people sustained injuries and more than 3,500 were killed in traffic accidents that year. Texas is currently among the top three most dangerous states for motorists, along with Florida and California. These states are also some of the most populated states in the nation, which directly contributes to high accident rates.

Unfortunately, almost all of the accidents that take place in Texas and across the United States are caused by some form of driver negligence. Recent statistics compiled concerning the most common causes of traffic accidents in the US found that approximately 94% of the car accidents that take place are the result of driver recklessness, carelessness, or negligence. Some common forms of driver negligence include, but are not limited to:

  • Intoxication
  • Fatigue
  • Distraction
