Aug 29, 2021 | Houston, TX Traffic Accidents

Houston, TX (August 28, 2021) – A major truck accident occurred on a roadway in Houston on Friday morning, August 27, prompting a response from local emergency crews.

Initial reports stated that the driver of an 18-wheeler sustained injuries after his truck went over the guardrails of a bridge and tumbled onto the ground. The incident happened around 12:30 a.m. on an exit from U.S. Highway 59. The ramp in which he crashed connects to the southbound lanes of the 610 West Loop.

The driver told officers that his load shifted, causing him to lose control of the truck. According to officers with the Houston Police Department, the truck landed in a muddy area near Westpark Drive.

It wasn’t clear how far the truck fell, but bridges in the area are at least 14 feet above the roadway.

EMS units transported the man to an area medical center for treatment of moderate injuries. It’s unclear if any other vehicles were involved in the collision.

HPD officers continue to investigate.

Our thoughts are with everyone involved in hopes of a full recovery.
