Fatal Pedestrian Accidents in Texas

Pedestrian accidents in Houston and across the state of Texas occur at an alarming rate. Thousands of people are injured in these accidents and hundreds more lose their lives each year. In 2018 in the Lone Star State, there were 7,908 pedestrian accidents that occurred. These include fatality and non-fatality accidents. Accidents that cause the fatality or injury of pedestrians are a tragic, daily occurrence all across the country. More than 700 pedestrians are fatally injured in our state each year, accounting for more than 20% of all vehicular fatalities in Texas. This total also represents a 22% rise in the pedestrian death rate from the previous year.
Pedestrian-involved accidents generate more injured victims and more fatalities than any other type of vehicle collision. Due to the fact that pedestrians are extremely vulnerable, they commonly suffer injuries that greatly exceed those of the vehicle occupants.
