Pedestrian Accidents in Houston

Houston, TX - Pedestrian Hit by Car, Injured on Westheimer Rd near Dunlavy St

Pedestrian-involved accidents take place every day in the United States. In 2016, with a total of 678 pedestrians killed, auto-pedestrian collisions represented almost one-fifth of all crash fatalities in the state of Texas, signifying an increase of 21.5% from the year before.

It is imperative that drivers remain vigilant when it comes to noticing pedestrians in the area. Most of these accidents happen because drivers are simply not watching for pedestrians and do not notice them crossing the road, stepping into a crosswalk, or walking on the side of the road.

Accidents involving pedestrians produce more fatalities and more injured victims than any other kind of car accident. Since pedestrians are completely vulnerable, they typically sustain injuries that are more critical than any vehicle occupant.
