Houston, TX (January 31, 2021) – A police officer in Houston was hospitalized with injuries after his involvement in an accident with a suspected drunk driver. The crash occurred in the early morning hours of Sunday, January 31.
Sources indicate that the collision occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. in the eastbound lanes of the Southwest Freeway in the vicinity of the Kirby exit. The factors contributing to the crash are currently under investigation.
The officer was working to block traffic for a stalled car on the freeway when a speeding Camaro collided with his patrol car. The police officer, who has not been identified at this time, suffered injuries in the collision.
He was transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance for treatment. It was later learned that the Camaro’s driver was an intoxicated minor. They were arrested at the scene of the accident and charged with a DUI, according to reports.
