Houston, TX (September 20, 2021) – A fatal car crash occurred in Central Southwest Houston that took the life of a teenage girl on the evening of Friday, September 17. The Houston Police Department along with paramedics and fire crews were called to the scene to investigate and assist those involved.
According to reports concerning the incident, the 16-year-old female, who has not been identified at this time, reportedly lost her life when the Dodge Cobalt she was riding in collided with a Dodge Ram pickup truck. The wreck happened at 13900 Buffalo Speedway in the vicinity of Darlinghurst Drive at approximately 6:40 p.m., sources say.
The truck was traveling north on the Buffalo Speedway near Darlinghurst when the Cobalt attempted to cross into the northbound lanes. As the vehicle was pulling out, the truck spun out of control for reasons still under police investigation.
The force of the impact sent the pickup truck over a curb and into the median of the road where it collided with several trees. Preliminary investigations reveal that speed may have played a factor in the two-car crash.
The Buffalo Speedway was closed in both directions for an extended period of time on the 17th while police and other emergency responders worked at the crash scene. Authorities continue to investigate the details of the wreck.
