Car Accidents in Texas

In 2016, someone was injured in a Texas car wreck approximately once every two minutes, according to reports from the Texas Department of Transportation. Some common causes of car wrecks in the Lone Star state that haven’t changed for many years are drunk driving, reckless driving, and reckless driving.
All of these are dangerous forms of driver negligence. They often result in serious and even debilitating injuries for those involved in the collisions they cause. At-fault parties in these wrecks are often faced with fines and even jail time. The victims should always file personal injury lawsuits for compensation for their injuries and losses, and they can do so by contacting a personal injury lawyer.
More fatal vehicle accidents happen in the state of Texas than anywhere else in the United States. Some alarming statistics concerning Texas vehicle accidents are as follows:
- Texas roadways see some kind of vehicle collision approximately once every one minute and 11 seconds.
- One person is killed during a Texas car crash every two and a half hours
- A crash victim sustains a critical injury nearly once every two minutes.
Houston, being one of the most populated cities in Texas, sees more car accidents than almost any other city in the Lone Star State. The Texas Department of Transportation stated that there were approximately 47,585 car accidents in Houston in 2012. Of those accidents, 176 were fatal, resulting in 193 deaths.
