Roundup Exposure: Symptoms of Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma

Nov 4, 2020 | Toxic Exposure

Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma is a type of cancer that affects the body’s lymphatic system, a component of the immune system that helps fight infections and moves fluid through the body. While the symptoms of Non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma will vary from person to person, it varies depending on the type of lymphoma and where it is in the body.  Some individuals may not show any symptoms until it is much larger.

Some of the most common signs include:

  • Swollen lymph nodes
  • Fever
  • Lack of appetite
  • Easy bruising or bleeding
  • Abdominal pain?
  • Coughing or shortness of breath
  • Heavy night sweats
  • Fatigue
  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Severe or frequent infections

Swollen lymph nodes. Lymph nodes are small glands that filter and circulate lymph fluid throughout the body. They can become enlarged in response to infection and toxic exposure and may be seen or felt as painless lumps under the skin. This is the most common symptom of NHL.

Lymphoma in the abdomen. Fluid build-up and swollen lymph nodes or organs can cause swelling or pain in the abdomen. An enlarged spleen or liver can put pressure on the stomach, leading to a loss of appetite. Lymphoma in the abdomen can also cause nausea and vomiting.

Lymphoma in the chest. Individuals with NHL may experience coughing, trouble breathing, or chest pain if lymphoma starts in the lymph nodes of the chest.

Lymphoma in the brain. Lymphomas of the brain can cause headache, trouble thinking, personality changes, and sometimes seizures. Double vision, facial numbness, and trouble speaking can also occur if lymphoma spreads to certain parts of the brain and spinal cord.

Having one or more of these symptoms doesn’t necessarily mean you have Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, but if you were exposed to RoundUp and begin experiencing any of the signs above you should contact your doctor right away.
