$17.5 Million Jury Verdict

$17.5 Million Jury Verdict in Tarrant County, Texas

Williams Hart & Boundas is proud to announce a significant victory on behalf of our client, who suffered a life-changing injury due to workplace negligence.

While securing her load, our client’s hand was crushed by untrained and uncertified forklift operators, in direct violation of federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. The severe crush injury led to Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS), a debilitating and incurable nerve condition that causes chronic pain and limits mobility.

The defendant, DFW Plastics, Inc., refused to accept responsibility. Instead, they blamed our client for her own injury and stood by their unsafe practices. Before trial, they offered just $1 million to settle the case.

Led by Firm Partner Cesar Tavares, with trial attorneys Alma Tavares and Michael Samaniego, and paralegal Genae Leal, our team built a compelling case showing the extent of the defendant’s negligence and the devastating impact of CRPS on our client’s life. After a six-day trial in Tarrant County, the jury returned a verdict of $17,511,787.80.

The verdict was more than compensation, it was vindication for a hardworking, independent woman whose life was forever changed. Our client was overcome with emotion as the verdict was read, as was our trial team.

Congratulations to Team Tavares for their tireless work and to our client for her strength and courage in the fight for justice.
