Jim Hart PARTNER

Firm partner Jim Hart is an exceptional legal professional, former quarterback, family man, and native Texan with an innate dedication to protecting and serving those who have been wrongfully injured by negligent corporations. His compassionate presence invokes a sense of comfort among clients and staff alike. Practicing law since 1991, he has been a dedicated advocate for his clients throughout his entire legal career.

After working for a small developer in commercial real estate for two years, Jim and his wife Susan were married. He began classes shortly after at the Texas Tech School of Law. “I got married the summer before law school and I teased my wife about how hard I thought it was to bring my grades to my parents and then discovered it was much harder to bring them home to your wife who was working full time while I was in school.”

The newlywed’s efforts would pay off. Jim went on to graduate with honors and has since accrued an impressive record of courtroom triumphs, which involve toxic torts, product liability, trucking collisions, and work-related injuries and deaths, with numerous cases involving fires and explosions at chemical plants and refineries. As someone who understands the challenges of supporting a household on one income, Jim is a strong advocate for those who find themselves injured and out of work through no fault of their own. “Whether it is allowing someone who is unable to work to be provided the money that will allow them to support their families for the rest of their lives or working on a union matter and being able to put an employee back to work who did not deserve to be terminated, we are focused on helping the client get results.”

Throughout the years, Jim and his team have managed to secure multiple multi-million-dollar verdicts for their clients, but this is not the only reason why people seek him out when looking for an attorney. Jim strongly believes the involvement of the client is an integral component to the success of their case. He strives to ensure the people he represents feel both listened to and informed about the progress and status of their case. The ability to directly see the impact he makes on the lives of his clients is his favorite part of the work he does. Jim forms real connections, which is evident in the way his clients feel about him and the results he is able to achieve in the courtroom. His legal excellence is recognized by his selection for inclusion in the Texas Super Lawyers list every year since 2004.

Jim is licensed to practice in Texas and Pennsylvania, as well as in the United States District Courts for the Western, Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of Texas. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and is Board Certified in Labor and Employment Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance in 1983. In addition to his devotion to his studies, he was a four-year football letterman, winning the Southwest Conference Sportsmanship Award for his performance as Co-Captain in his senior year. In 1988 he returned to Texas Tech University, this time attending their School of Law. He went on to attain his law degree, graduating cum laude in 1991.

While Jim keeps busy with his work as an attorney, he still finds time to be involved both professionally and personally within his community. He is a member of the Texas Trial Lawyers Association and the Houston Bar Association and is a Board Member and former Officer for the Houston Bar Foundation. In his personal time, he is an active member at his church and a supporter of his alma mater, Texas Tech University, where he is a member of their Letterman’s Association, the Double T Varsity Club.

Jim is a family man at heart and manages to spend quality time with Susan and their five daughters. In his children’s youth, he enjoyed coaching the girls’ basketball teams, attending cheerleading competitions and dance recitals. Although his daughters are all grown, and his family has grown to include four sons-in-laws and two granddaughters, he still spends as much time with them as he can. Outside of the office, Jim is also a golfer and an avid spectator of his alma mater’s athletic teams. (Go Tech!)
