Sejal Brahmbhatt PARTNER

Sejal K. Brahmbhatt is a partner at Williams Hart & Boundas, LLP, where she has practiced since joining the firm in 2003. With nearly 25 years of experience, she has built a strong reputation in personal injury and mass tort litigation, representing individuals harmed by pharmaceuticals and medical devices, and advocating for women pursuing claims against rideshare companies such as Uber and Lyft.

Born in London, England, and raised in the United States from the age of nine, Sejal brings a unique cultural perspective to her work. Her background, combined with decades of legal experience, informs her zealous and effective advocacy for her clients.

Sejal’s experience spans every stage of litigation, from initial case vetting through trial. She is known for building strong, trust-based relationships with her clients, an approach that consistently yields positive outcomes. She has handled mass tort litigation ranging from approximately 25 to 2,000 plaintiffs, guiding cases from inception through settlement and trial, and securing millions of dollars in recoveries for her clients.

She has been instrumental in high-stakes litigation, including serving on the trial team representing children affected by in utero exposure to Depakote. She managed the firm’s Depakote docket, helping secure significant verdicts of $38 million and $15 million for affected families. She has also taken on major corporations, including Johnson & Johnson, Janssen, Merck, Boston Scientific, and GlaxoSmithKline. In recognition of her leadership, she was appointed by Judge Claire Cecchi to the Plaintiffs’ Steering Committee in the national Proton Pump Inhibitor litigation.

Most recently, Sejal represented a woman who was sexually assaulted by an Uber driver in a case tried in the Western District of North Carolina as part of a larger multidistrict litigation (MDL). With Judge Charles R. Breyer presiding, the case marked the second trial in the MDL and the first selected by Uber for trial purposes, ultimately resulting in a verdict in favor of the plaintiff.

In addition to her courtroom work, Sejal is a highly sought-after public speaker. She has presented at numerous national conferences, including the American Association for Justice, the MDL Judicial Summit, Texas Women Rainmakers, and Mass Torts Made Perfect. Her speaking engagements focus on pharmaceutical litigation, strategies for navigating the mass tort arena, and best practices for litigating complex pharmaceutical cases.

She is licensed to practice law in Texas, Pennsylvania, and Missouri, as well as in the United States District Courts for the Western, Southern, Eastern, and Northern Districts of Texas. She is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit and the United States Supreme Court.

Sejal earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Houston in 1996, majoring in Psychology and Political Science with a minor in Radio/Television Communications. She went on to attend South Texas College of Law, where she received the Dean’s Fellowship Scholarship and earned her Juris Doctor in 2000. During law school, she was actively involved in student leadership, serving as a Student Bar Representative, President of the International Law Society, and Secretary of the Women’s Legal Forum, among other roles.

Her accomplishments have been widely recognized by her peers. She was named to the Texas Super Lawyers Rising Stars list in 2013 and 2014 and has been selected to the Texas Super Lawyers list every year since 2021.
